Losing a Gmail password can be incredibly stressful. Many use Gmail for work or simply have a lot of personal information. Suddenly losing access to all of that data can be devastating.
Gmail allows you to reset your password using a phone number or recovery email address that’s attached to your account. However, these options aren’t always available for Gmail users.
To recover your Gmail password without a phone number or recovery email, follow these steps:
- Go to the Google Account Recovery page.
- Type in the Gmail username of the account you’re trying to recover
- Choose “Try another way to sign in.”
- Fill out the recovery form offered by Google.
In the recovery form, you’ll be asked a series of questions about your account to prove your ownership. The questions may include:
- Recent passwords you remember using for the account.
- Approximate date of account creation.
- Names of frequently emailed contacts or frequently used labels (folders).
- Any linked Google services or products associated with the account (YouTube, Google Drive).
- Other account-related information that you remember, such as account usage patterns.
Answer the questions to the best of your ability and with as much accuracy as possible. The more accurate information you provide, the higher the chances of successful account recovery. After completing the account recovery form, submit it for review.
Google’s account recovery team will review the information you filled out. This process may take some time. If Google’s team is satisfied with the information you’ve provided, they may grant you access to your account.
